Overview

Our agency collaborated with STYLL to design and produce a commemorative T-shirt inspired by the annual Terry Fox Run. The project aimed to create a visually impactful design that honored Terry Fox’s legacy while seamlessly integrating 90's Hip-hop elements aligning with STYLL’s unique brand identity. The challenge was to ensure the design resonated with Styll and reflected the values of both the Terry Fox Foundation.

Approach

To achieve the objective, we began by establishing a clear project timeline, aligning key milestones for design approvals, client feedback, and production deadlines. Our creative direction was guided by a curated 90's Hip-Hop Tee mood board that featured relevant visual elements, color palettes, and typographic styles. Inspired by Terry Fox’s story and STYLL’s brand ethos, we developed bold graphic elements and custom typography that balanced timeless appeal with a 90's Hip-Hop aesthetic.

Multiple design mockups were created to explore variations in layout, color schemes, and placement. We worked closely with STYLL’s team to refine the designs through iterative feedback, ensuring the final concept captured the event’s purpose while maintaining brand consistency.

Execution

Once the design was finalized, we prepared production-ready files tailored to the specifications of STYLL’s printing vendors, ensuring accuracy in dimensions, resolution, and format. Our team sourced high-quality T-shirt materials that aligned with the design’s visual and tactile requirements. Throughout the printing process, we maintained close communication with vendors, reviewed samples, and conducted quality control checks to guarantee an exceptional final product.

Outcome

The final T-shirts were delivered on time and exceeded client expectations. They were widely praised by both STYLL and supporters, strengthening STYLL’s brand presence and contributing a meaningful, wearable piece to the Terry Fox Run. The project demonstrated our expertise in managing end-to-end creative production, from concept development to final delivery, while aligning with the values and vision of both the client and the event.

The Winning Reel

The curated ad that drove Phase 2’s success worked because it focused strictly on surf culture, selling the lifestyle to viewers rather than forcing products into the frame. Its authenticity came from careful guidance, niche understanding, and staying true to the culture.

At the core, the surf community values high-quality action footage with skilled surfers while products remain secondary. The winning video embraced this principle. After the initial post showed high traction with more views, stronger engagement, and more likes than previous content (as planned), it was identified as the ideal candidate for amplification. Once performance data confirmed its momentum, budget was allocated to boost the post, further amplifying reach.

This reinforced the strategy: create content rooted in cultural authenticity, validate through organic activity, and then strategically invest in amplification to convert visibility into lasting community growth.
